Dog Breeds

Unlike cat breeds, dog breeds are a much less confusing affair. While it mostly relies on coat pattern and possibly features for cats, dogs come in many different shapes and sizes, thus becoming much easier to identify and leaving less room for conflicting observations. You definitely wouldn't confuse a Golden Retriever for a Chihuahua, after all. Over 40% of the world's dog breeds come from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, with Great Britain and France specifically having 57 registered dog breeds and Germany having 47. I know what you might be thinking--57 is only 40%?! There are a lot more dog breeds than cat breeds (or at least a lot more officially recognized) with even more possibilities on the horizon.

The top ten dog breeds of 2025 according to the American Kennel Club (AKC) are the French Bulldog, Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Dachshund, Poodle, Beagle, Rottweiler, German Shorthaired Pointer, and the Bulldog. People mostly pick their dogs due to their lifestyle (and cuteness!), so it's no surprise to see these ten in this spot (although all dogs are cute in my opinion...). I also have two dogs, and one of them actually made it to the list! I have a very cute Poodle and a very cute Terrier mix that I love to play with. But back to the ranking--the ranking is always shifting, either due to spikes of popularity in different breeds or spikes of UNpopularity, but Rottweilers, Beagles, German Shepherd Dogs, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, and French Bulldogs have all stayed in the same spot year after year.
