Who doesn't love cookies, right? There may be certain types of them you dislike, but nothing is quite comparable to biting into a warm, gooey cookie on a cold day. On this page, we'll be teaching you how to make these warm, gooey cookies in question, starting with the warmest, gooiest of them all:
Ingredients
- Butter
- White and brown sugar
- Flour
- Eggs
- Vanilla extract
- Baking soda
- Hot water
- Salt
- And of course, the chocolate chips!
The Process
To get started, first you want to lay out all your ingredients for easier access. In this case, you'll need 1 cup of softened butter, 1 cup of white and brown sugar, 2 large eggs, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 2 teaspoons of hot water, a half teaspoon of salt, 3 cups of all-purpose flour, and 2 cups of chocolate chips. For the hot water, it's better to get that when you need it rather than having it sit out and get lukewarm—the softened butter should be grabbed when needed immediately as well. The eggs should also be room temperature. And of course, feel free to increase or decrease the portions of anything if you feel it's needed. Now that you have your ingredients all laid out, let's get started with baking!
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Beat softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar into a large bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Beat in eggs (one at a time) and then stir in vanilla.
- Dissolve baking soda in hot water.
- Add dissolved baking soda to batter alongside salt and mix until combined.
- Stir in flour and chocolate chips until a soft dough forms.
- Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake until edges are brown, usually 10 minutes.
- Wait until they cool, and then enjoy!
How did it go? Were the cookies as delicious as advertised? If they were, that's amazing! If not, then don't worry! Baking can be incredibly difficult to master, and at least you can say that you tried your hand at it. For example, my first baking attempt was peanut butter cookies that I saw on TikTok. I followed the recipe perfectly, or so I thought, and my cookies came out... less than stellar. But I tried, and tried again, and was finally able to bake something that I ended up being incredibly proud of!
