Some people may consider pie the odd one out of the trio, but it definitely has some strong contributions for me to consider it in the top three of baked goods! Key lime pie, chocolate pie, and banana pie are a few of my personal favorites, but for this page, we'll be focusing on:
Ingredients
- Either homemade or store-bought pie crust
- Granulated sugar
- Salt
- Ground cinnamon
- Ground ginger
- Ground cloves
- Eggs
- Canned pumpkin or fresh pumpkin puree
- Evaporated milk
The Process
Once again, you want to make sure that all your ingredients are laid out for easy access. You'll need a 9-inch pie crust, 3/4 cups of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, a half teaspoon of salt, a half teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves, 2 large eggs, 15 ounce can of canned pumpkin or fresh pumpkin puree, and a 12 ounce can of evaporated milk. This time, there aren't any ingredients that particularly need to be prepared and immediately grabbed (except for the eggs which once again need to be at room temperature!) so feel free to get everything and just get started!
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Beat eggs and pumpkin together in a large bowl.
- In a separate bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves, and then add to pumpkin mixture.
- Gradually stir in evaporated milk.
- Carefully pour mixture into unbaked pie crust.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes; reduce the temperature to 350 degrees and then continue to bake for 40-50 minutes or until pie is set.
- Wait for it to cool and then enjoy!
How did it go? The instructions don't seem too complicated, but I know just how quickly something can go wrong when baking. If it turned out perfect, that's amazing! You now have a yummy pumpkin pie to share with whoever you'd like! If it went wrong, don't fret; like I said before, the process of baking is very trial and error and you're bound to make mistakes your first couple of tries. Don't give up and just try again some other day! If you had a bit of trouble with following along with written instructions, this recipe also comes with a video:
